Jasmine Becket-Griffith is an american artist from Florida, she uses oil paints and acrylic paints to create surrealist fairytale creatures and characters, she is currently working on a series commissioned by the Walt Disney Company, of all of their princesses ( hence my interest in her , and her work). Here is the link to her website: http://www.strangeling.com/faq/, she is very well renowned in America and is solidly booked for private commissions until 2017! her price list is below and if i get to work for even half that much one day i will be very pleased! it definitely cements my belief that there is still a place for art with traditional materials, rather than just contemporary work in galleries. This is her full time job, which supports her and her family, and her gothic and faerie themes are proved to be very popular. her price list is as follows:
My current pricelist is as follows:
Below are some of my favorite pieces of her work, i like how she uses her highlights to create a magical feel in her work, and how the eyes are coloured in a way that looks milky and mysterious, rather than very defined like the eyes on Mark Rydens work.
her pieces are also sold in other forms, such as fashion items here like this swimsuit, it’s a good way to make the most of a successful design.
this is my favorite of her Disney pieces, Belle’s Enchantment, the original of this sold for $6400 and is created in acrylic paint at 16×20 inches
framed prints of her work are also sold, as are postcards
i especially like her little mermaid, belle and alice in wonderland inspired pieces, i may utilize disney in my own work someday as it is close to my heart and i find the characters, stories and songs all inspirational. these are a collection of her pieces for disney, her paintings are also being put onto products and sold, which is a good way of creating a market for your work, such as mugs, t shirts and novelty items like bottle openers 🙂 Alice in Dali Dreams, acrylic on canvas:
below is my own interpretation of her work 🙂
