Carne Griffiths is an artist who works primarily in inks, graphites and liquids such as alcohol and tea. He is fascinated with manipulating the drawn line and he explores human, geometric and floral forms to create elaborate illustrative pieces of work.

i decided to look at Carne Griffiths because of my interest in illustration and i was looking at new methods of portraiture, i like his loose and abstract take on portraiture which he then completes with delicate floral forms. i saw Carne Griffiths work at the London Art Fair, it was actually from following Carne Griffiths work that i discovered the London Art Fair was on because he had posted about it on social media. I would’ve loved to purchase one of his pieces but at £4000+ it was sadly not meant to be, maybe one day though as i feel very strongly about his work and i could’ve stood at his booth all day studying the little details!

below are some images of his work, along with my own interpretation of it:

beautiful decay

this is my interpretation and my sketchbook page on him in the february brief 🙂
